The girls got the goals for me this afternoon. Shame I didnt go for more than 8 goals, as it finished 6-2 to Germany. It's amazing to see the strides that have been taken by Hope Powell's team. A few years ago, they were struggling to qualify for tournaments, and now they've been World Cup Semi Finalists and European Championship Finalists in two years. What's more they seem to be getting better as young players keep coming through. Although Germany, Brazil and America are still at another level, it'll be interesting to see how they get on in the World Cup in 2011.

As I write, the rain is coming down hard in the Arthur Ashe stadium in New York. Rafa Nadal is taking on Fernando 'Gonzo' Gonzalez, and is a 1-0 up, but he appears to have some sort of thigh injury. The rain break wont help him if he has to struggle to keep warm, and Gonzalez is just the sort of player to take advantage with his crazily aggressive groundstrokes. The pace on Nadal's serve and forehand seemed to be right down before they went off, which makes the 5.0 available on Betfair seem very generous. the bet here is to have £20 on Gonzo @ 5.0 and £10 on Gonzo to win 3-1 in the set betting at 13.0.
