marychain's Footy Tips Starts 8 September 2009

I will be having two bets on the World Cup qualifying matches in midweek. These are relative longshots, but both carry some value.

The first will be a back of Serbia against Friance. Serbia are home and hosed if they beat Les Bleus on Wednesday night in Belgrade. Boasting the best attack and the tightest defence in the section, and having won their last three home games without conceding a single goal, Radomir Antic's Serbia will have the support of a capacity 60,000 crowd as they set about the task of qualifying for the FIFA World Cup for the first time as a nation in their own right. France havent been the same side since Zidane retired, and there have been stories in the press about the team's dissatisfaction with Coach Raymond Domenech. A tepid 1-1 draw at home to Romania didnt help his cause, and it's always worth opposing teams when the side arent all pulling same direction. £30 @ 3.15 says Serbia will win.

The second bet is Croatia at Wembley. I celared up the last time Croatia came to town at prices of 8/1 and 9/1, but this time the best available at the moment is the 7.6 with Betfair. I think this will drift out to 8.0 or even 9.0 before kick off, and this is when I will be placing my bet. England are clearly a more confident side under Capello than McClaren, but the defensive mistakes are still in evidence, and England still look one paced against the most mobile sides. Modric is out for Croatia, but they still have plenty of quality, and in Olic, Petric and Eduardo, they have plenty of goals in them. England are rightly favourites, but there is no way Croatia should be this price. Once the patriotic punter money pushes them to a inflated price it's time to wade in. £20 on Croatia to upset England, price to be confirmed.
The price still hasnt shifted, if it doesnt go above 8.0 before kick off, I will take the price at kick off.
