Ideas

Had a few ideas. currently, the idea for the end of this year is to split the money in a way that reflects the profits made. We could do this, or we could change our minds, and do something else instead;

1. Take the money out, and split it as originally decided (see early posts for exact splits)
2. Use the money at the end of the season and have a big piss up.
3. Keep the money where it is, either parked over the summer, or continue to run it throughout Euro '08 and next season, betting on cricket, Olympics etc in the close season.
4. Add another £25 each to the money, and continue to build a serious pot with it.
5. Leave £100 in, or £200 (ie so we have each put in £50) and play with that, taking anything else out as profit or for a night out etc.

The last option, (ie leaving £100 in and taking the rest out, either split between us or for a night out etc) means we could continue to run this next year and the foreseeable future, and we could expand the membership, if we wanted, depending on what we think. If we do expand the membership, we could have (say) 8 players, and two people having a turn to bet each week.

I would be interested in your thoughts on this so please make some comments

Would be quite good fun to keep it going over the summer. I'm pretty flexible though and will do whatever people want.

Quite happy to expand membership as well.

I'm with Bob on this one. Think we should keep it going, if anyone wants out they could get bought out by someone else.

Personally I think the last option is the best, hopefully we'll be above £200 by the end of the season so we can go out on the piss with the excess.

So, what about if we take all out above £100, and go out on the lash with it, and then adjust membership (people can leave or buy out and/or we can bring new people in paying £25 a pop) as of the last day of the season. If we're over £200 we could bring in new people but they have to pay £50. The problem with bringing in people giving us 5 or 6 members total means we bet, ie we have our turn, less frequently. Four seems a good number, so we could have eight memebers, and two people could have a turn each week, having two bets each instead of three maybe. Again; your thoughts? Tim

So, just to summarise, what if we (on the last day of the season) go out on the lash with the excess from £200 and try to find four more members paying £50 each, so we have two people having their turn each week?

If everyone's happy with that, is reducing the number of bets a week from 3 to 2 an issue? Would it stop people from having a punt at a longshot?

I'm happy with 6 or 8 people and then two people betting each week but like you say if you were picking less than once a month you might lose interest. I'm happy with only 2 picks as well, like you say we are tending to pick two and then going with a long shot.

Fine with me - I'm enjoying the optimism of going out with the profit over £200...
